How to prevent your child from being a mouth breather

how to prevent your child from being a mouth breather

In humans, breathing has from birth to the first year of life for its neurological registration.

Therefore, in their first year of life, registration is carried out when they are inhale and exhale through the nose suckling at the mother's breast, achieving a perfect lip seal when swallowing the milk. Breastfeeding creates the neurological record of the functioning of the muscle groups of the tongue, neck and shoulder girdle. It is important to maintain these behaviours and perform them correctly in the first year of life, so that the brain circuits are programmed and mature correctly.

That is why it is recommended to breastfeed, if possible, for as long as possible. This should be bilateral (same time on the right and left breast), for a good bilateral development of the baby's face, the child's SE and brain maturation.

After 6 MONTHS, it is time for the introduction of complementary feeding, but breastfeeding should continue for up to 2 years or more.

It should avoiding the use of bottles and soothersso that our child does not become a mouth breather, with all the problems that this entails: rhinitis, otitis, sinusitis, hypoacusis, tonsillitis (repeated), asthma, sleep apnoea, snoring, seizures, bruxism, malocclusions, among many others.
