What we see in toothpaste advertising is not the reality. We don't need so much toothpaste to clean ourselves or our children's teeth.
Let's see how much toothpaste we should put on our children's and our own toothbrushes.
* From the eruption of the first tooth until the age of 3: toothpaste with 1000 ppm fluoride in toothpaste. How much? The equivalent of a scrape on the toothbrush.
* Between the ages of 3 and 7 years: pastes with 1000 ppm fluoride. The size of a grain of rice.
* Over 7 years old: Pastes with 1450 ppm fluoride. The size of a pea.
When the brushing is finished, it is important to spit out the excess but never rinse with water so that the fluoride can take effect in the mouth, there is no need to be afraid that they will swallow the paste, they will not be poisoned by it.
Brushing must be done by parents when they are young and as they grow and become more skilled they can do it on their own, under supervision.
Always remember to take your children to their dental check-ups, prevention is our motto.
