Teach your children how to breathe

· 2 min read

When we learn to breathe properly, we can harness the powerful benefits of breathwork. Today we're going to teach you some simple exercises to help your children breathe properly, and also to help all our patients using HBTC-RFA myofunctional orthodontics progress quickly in their treatment.

The benefits of breathing through your nose are incredible! Here are some of them:

  • Reduce stress and promote relaxation.
  • To balance the pH level in the blood
  • Low blood pressure
  • Release tension from the body.
  • Lower heart rate
  • Raising awareness and self-regulation.
  • Improve respiratory function
  • Combats fatigue and improves energy levels
  • Promote concentration and cognitive function

Let's start with 3 simple exercises for you to try with your children and help them reap the benefits of breathing right away.

1. Exhale deeply

A great exercise for practicing exhalation is inflate balloons. This results in a long, slow exhalation that purges stale air from the lungs. A deep exhalation completes the full breathing cycle, allowing the body to release negativity (both physically and energetically).

2_ HORIZONTAL BREATHING

How to breathe horizontally?

  • Put your hands on your belly.
  • Inhale and push your belly towards your hands. Make a big belly!
  • Exhale and feel your body narrow like a balloon deflating. Flatten your belly towards your spine.
  • Inhale and expand, exhale and constrict.
  • Repeat 5-10 times.

What are we going to achieve?

  • A horizontal breathing technique that uses the diaphragm expands the belly and rib cage when inhaling and narrows it when exhaling.
  • Horizontal breathing calms the nervous system and turns off the fight-or-flight response.

3_ THE 4X4 BREATHING

This last exercise helps regulate both inhalation and exhalation while expanding the lungs. The steps:

  • Inhale deeply on the count of four (1… 2… 3… 4)
  • Hold your breath while you count to four.
  • Exhale on the count of four.
  • Hold your breath while you count to four.
  • Repeat at least three times and you will notice the difference

All these exercises will help your children learn to breathe, relax, and improve their quality of life.
