EVERYTHING YOU WANT TO KNOW ABOUT A ROOT CANAL

· 2 min read

WHAT IS IT FOR?

Endodontics is a conservative procedure that treats the inside of the tooth and allows you to maintain your natural tooth, the surrounding bone and gum, as well as its functionality.

WHEN IS IT NEEDED?

When the pulp is irreversibly affected by deep cavities, trauma, or endoperiodontal lesions.

HOW MANY SESSIONS WILL BE NECESSARY?

In most cases they are performed in a single session, but on other occasions two or more sessions may be necessary due to the technical difficulty of the case.

HURTS?

Endodontic treatment is usually virtually painless, as highly effective and long-lasting local anesthetics are used today. Once the treatment is finished and the anesthetic has worn off, some discomfort may occur for a few days, which can be managed with a mild anti-inflammatory medication.

WHAT ARE THE ALTERNATIVES?

At MIDSA Dental Clinic, our priority is preserving your natural teeth. When this isn't possible, the alternative is extraction and replacement; however, it's important to understand that no form of replacement, including implants, can truly replace a natural tooth.
